I have always wanted to be a success and to have a happy life, I am sure this is the same for most people. In the early part of my life I was unable to achieve both of these aims; this was partly because I had a stuttering problem. In my early to mid twenties I decided to attempt to learn about ways in which I could ensure that the future would be a lot better, than what the past had been. I soon began to read literature about these subjects in my quest to improve my life.

I soon realized the importance of setting goals and targets and was hopeful that this could help me to stop stuttering. I thought about what I wanted to be and which course I wanted my life to take. In the end I wrote out 3 different lists which of course including my future goals.

The first list included what I wanted to achieve within the next twelve months. The second list contained what I wanted to achieve within five years and the third list was my lifetime goals – one of which was to own my own company selling composite front doors.

Avoid negative people

There are people out there who try to bring me down. Nasty comments, dirty looks and gossiping were all things that these nasty people would do. They would treat me as if I was some sort of freak and as if I was one of life’s losers. These type of people have caused me many sleepless nights and have had a negative affect on my self-confidence.

I knew that I had to steer well clear from these bad influences; this can however be easier said than done.

I have now managed to achieve fluency as well as personal happiness – life is now very good.

I also own a business and also work on a part-time basis working along side a business cost reduction specialist.

As you can see life is now so much better for me and I am sure that it could be for you.

It seems as though, some people are just born leaders, whereas some seem to be born followers. This is not the case at all. Being a good leader takes a combination of many different traits for many different situations.

But if you look at all GREAT leaders, you will find 7 traits that they all share – and it is possible for YOU to develop and refine these traits for yourself.

1. Bold – If you want to be a great leader, you have to willing to make decisions – sometimes without all the information needed. With great risk comes great reward.

2. Enthusiastic- An important part of leading people is motivating them and getting them excited about the task at hand. If you are not excited about it yourself – why would anyone else be?

3. Confident – Its very important for a person who wants to be a leader to be self-assured and have high self-esteem. If you don’t value yourself, no one else will either.

4. Goal Oriented – While the soft skills are important, you need results. When you can produce results, you build trust.

5. Positive and Optimistic – Even the most perfectly laid plans can go awry. There will always be hard times, and a good leader knows that dips are always temporary.

6. Team Players – Great leaders know how to excite and inspire teams. They know how to manage each person individually to get them to produce their best work for a group.

7. Charismatic – An integral part of leadership is creating a vision that unites and motivates people. By captivating people with this vision, charismatic leaders can easily motivate and inspire people.

So where do you fit in? If you find you may be lacking in some areas, its ok because these skills can be learned.

Refining these skills can take time, experience and certain techniques. Many leaders credit their success to trial and error, meditation and NLP techniques (such as the silva method), or “fake it until you make it”.

Losing someone you love

Losing someone you love is not easy and if you know someone who needs some encouragement words then do take the time to share something positive. They need to be told everything is okay and the person who has died will live forever in their memories. Do not over do it. Find the right things to do and words to say.

Let me emphasize and say that when you are trying to encourage someone who is grieving, you need to be skillful and very sensitive.

A person who is just starting a new job

Being in a new office can be overpowering for most people. So if you know someone who is just starting a new job then you have a candidate to help out. For someone who has a good sense of humor, just write him or her some something warm if he or she is worried about living kids at home then think about writing some nice poems of encouragement for kids about starting a new job.

Someone living in a foreign country

Being in a new country can be so nerve wrecking especially if you can not understand the local language. One of the predominant feelings are anxiety and being home sick. I know someone who fell into a major depression after going overseas to pursue her studies. It took two months for the person to recover and start accepting her new environment.

Other than these, sick people also need some words of encouragement and also those who are locked up in jail. As you live through each day, keep remembering that someone needs you to speak some few encouraging words.

Now many of us celebrate at different times and in different ways. That is not what this post is about.

I come from a traditional christian background and as such, my celebrations are anchored in the philosophy that background has given me. However, I do not believe that basic human kindness and charity are specific to any given background. We all have within ourselves the capacity to reach out to others and make a difference regardless of the season. This is just a time when we are reminded of the importance of doing so.

One of my favorite times is the 24th of December. This is the day that has been set aside for my 3 children, their significant others and 3 grandchildren spend time with me celebrating the season. Next year (possibly even this year), we will have another join us as my oldest daughter is expecting. While a busy time, it is also a time and memory that we jointly share. Good food, warm company and the expressions of the little ones as they open their gifts are pearls of memory that bind us as a family.

Well, when you do find it is time to start some work on your house, such as painting, this can be a stressful time and a disruptive time in their lives.

With that being the case, I would now like to you give you some invaluable advice on how to choose the right contractor. This advice comes from years working with homeowners and also running a San Diego painting company myself.

But, hold on there partner, before you tackle the windows, and I am not saying you can’t. Make sure you know exactly what you need to do. And it isn’t that hard.

Ready for the tips? Here goes in quick fashion.

Now right off the bat, the first thing you will want and need is the right tools for the job. This isn’t going to be a quick spray and wipedown of your family room glass table. No, this will be glass that has months of dirt piled on, from the weather all the way to insects and birds making it dirty.

What exactly then will be the right tools for the job? As I mentioned before windex and paper towels will not do the trick. What you will need though, won’t be that intricate. All you’ll need is a squeegee and a spray bottle, and then you can break out the paper towels.

Use all these tools, and cleaning these windows will be a snap.

Okay, so you have those 3 tools, now what? Well you are missing one last ingredient. You are going to need something for that spray bottle. And what you may ask is this secret ingredient? It comes in 2 parts. Ready? The secret sauce is a teaspoon of dish washing liquid and 2 gallons of water. Simple, but that is all you will need. You put all these things together and you will have streak free windows in no time.

Oh snap, one final ingredient I haven’t mentioned yet. And it is a biggie. The final ingredient is a lot of elbow grease.

So even though you started the day rarin’ to go and ready to knock out all those windows, by the third or fourth window, you might start to run a little low on that elbow grease.
